Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeships

We are currently recruiting Engineering Apprentices to join our maintenance team at Tri-Wall UK, Monmouth. You will be learning how to maintain both plant and equipment in the packaging industry in a fast paced and varied Engineering environment.

Engineering apprenticeships are four-year schemes that will help you achieve a variety of qualifications. You will aim to achieve a Level 3 BTEC, Level NVQ 3 Extended Diploma and a Higher National Certificate in your chosen discipline. The first 2 years are spent on a block release programme.  50% of the time spent at Newport and District Group Training Association (NDGTA) Cwmbran developing your basic engineering skills and completing your academic study.  The remaining years are spent at our site in Monmouth gaining first-hand experience of your chosen trade whilst attending college on a day release basis.

Applicants Should:

  • Have a minimum, five passes at GCSE, grades A-C(achieved or predicted), including Englisj, Mathematics and a technical subject such as CDT, Graphic Communications, Engineering Science or Product Design.
  •  Be enthusiastic and determined to succeed.
  • Be self-motivated to ensure college deadlines are met. 
  • Have a hands on approach and a practical mind.
  • Evidence of practical skills or hobbies to demonstrate this would be an advantage. 
  • Have an inquisitive nature.
 

The Disciplines on offer:

Electrical Apprentices: develop skills in electrical fault finding, diagnosis and repairs. You will gain knowledge of automation, motors, control gear, PLC’S and lighting circuits. You will learn how to maintain electrical systems and diagnose faults using a multitude of test equipment. You will be challenged to develop solutions to keep the equipment/machines running and you will gain fundamental skills which will set you up for a career for life.

 Mechanical Apprentices: develop skills on several workshop machines such as Lathe, Milling machine, Pillar drill and Welding equipment. You will be responsible for safe assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting on our machines in the plant such as the corrugator, printing machines and stitching/gluing. You will gain knowledge of pumps, steam systems, pneumatics and much more. Your role will be to keep all machinery running at all times and to maintain it to the highest standard.
