Multi-skilled Engineering Apprentice (Electrically Bias)     &     Site Service Engineering Apprentice

Working hours: 40 per week

Location: Cwmbran

 

Working as part of a skilled team, you will be learning about the various process systems involved on the production lines which incorporate Mechanical and Electrical controls, this includes three phase induction motors, pumps, blowers and compressors, motorised valves and pneumatics, inverters, plc’s and conventional control systems. You will be involved in all aspects of Engineering works including projects, improvement work and all pro and re-active maintenance tasks associated with the site.

Job Overview:

The apprentice will study for 4 years whilst learning practically on the job on our site at FBC (Llantarnam). The successful individual will work in the Engineering department to develop the required Engineering skills along with Health and Safety awareness as well as working on all aspects of Quality relevant to the food industry. The purpose of this opportunity is to build a succession plan for FBC with the aim of a position at the end of the placement.

The apprenticeship will take the form of off the job training provided by NDGTA and work placement training on site in Llantarnam. In year 1 you will be expected to complete 27 weeks off the job training at NDGTA and 25 weeks work based training on site and to sit and successfully pass all assessments to be eligible to move into Year 2. Eligibility for years 3 and 4 will likewise be subject to passing the relevant requirements from the Previous year.

Requirements:

Candidates should be enthusiastic team members with a natural interest and aptitude for Electrical / mechanical engineering. Hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or Equivalent) at level C/4 or above. Subjects should include Maths/ English/ Science or Tech Studies and/or a relevant BTEC Qualification. Excellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative and a strong drive to succeed are all essential.

Interview Arrangements:

Two stage interview process. Aptitude test at the training school, followed by an on site interview.
